Da Nang to Hoi An travel time
There are two ways to travel from Da Nang to Hoi An: Via the coastal route, or inland on the DT607 highway. Travel time depends on the route your driver takes and the type of vehicle (cars and taxis are faster than minivans and coaches).
It takes a minimum of 45 minutes to get from Da Nang to Hoi An when traveling on the coastal road by car.
On the inland road, it takes a little longer – approximately 50 to 60 minutes by car.

How to get from Da Nang to Hoi An
Travelers can choose between a private car, taxi, bus, grab or motorbike rental to get to Hoi An.
1. Taxi
Taxis are the most convenient and also considered the easiest way to get to Hoi An from Da Nang since from the city center (or the airport) you can just catch a taxi and get in without making any prior arrangement. It will take you around 30 – 45 minutes and will cost around 350,000 - 450,000VND/1 round or 450,000 - 550,000VND/2 rounds. You should choose a well-known taxi brand:

2. Bus
To encourage tourists to visit Da Nang, the government launched a direct bus line between Da Nang and Hoi An – DanaBus 01 – for just 18,000-30,000 VND (~1 USD). Although the bus is the cheapest travel option, it will take a bit longer, 45 to 60 minutes to get to Hoi An.
If you are arriving from the airport this option will be less convenient because the nearest bus stop is around three kilometers away. But if you are taking the train, there is a bus station close to the Railway Station. It’s at 162 Ong Ich Khiem, only a 10-minute walk from the station.

A small tip for our readers: on the way to Hoi An, the bus will pass by Marble Mountains (Ngu Hanh Son) – a group of 5 limestone hills that present Vietnamese’s belief and culture, you can stop by for a couple of hours to pay a visit then continue to hit the road on the next bus.
The bus Station is located 2km away from Hoi An ancient town, although there are plenty of taxies to take you there or you can walk for another 20 minutes.
Beside DaNabus, Sinh Tourist is a popular bus company that runs coaches between Da Nang City and Hoi An. It has the advantage of AC, plenty of luggage space, and extra leg room – which are by no means guaranteed on public buses.
The buses that use this route are sleeper buses with fully reclining seats.
The ticket price is 250,000 VND ($10.80) per person
Da Nang: Twice daily at 10am and 3.30pm
Hoi An: Twice daily at 8am and 1.45pm.
3. Motorbike
Traveling by motorbike is the most exciting option of all. Most locals travel in between Da Nang and Hoi An because it is the most popular form of transportation in Vietnam, and it allows for flexibility to visit destinations along the way.
There are two common types of motorbikes: manual and automatic transmission. Automatic bikes are the first choice for most travelers because they are easier to handle, especially in light of the slew of new traffic laws you must obey. Just turn the throttle and it will run. However, if you also plan to visit other nice spots in the area including Son Tra peninsula or challenge yourself to Hai Van pass, then the manual bike will be more suitable since you can manually control the torque (force) which is essential to going uphill.
Rental fee is about 100,000 – 150,000VND/vehicle/day.
At the NAVIS Hotel& Apartment, rental fee is 100,000VND/manual bike/24 hour; 120,000VND/automatic bike/ 24 hour.
4. Private Car
If you have already booked your stay in Hoi An, ask your accommodation if they can arrange a private pickup car for you. Provide them your pickup address, this can be the airport or your hotel in Da Nang, and a car will be sent at the specified time. Charges vary but this is the least stress-inducing option.
Or if you stayed in Da Nang, you can book a private car, the price is around 13-17$.
5. Grab
Grab (Southeast Asia’s answer to Uber) is a popular transport app that can be used to book taxis, rideshare cars and motorbikes in Vietnam. Grab works in Danang, so it is possible to book a ride to Hoi An Ancient Town through the app.
To use Grab, you’ll either need to pick up a Vietnamese sim card or download the app before you leave home and register with your usual phone number. There is free WIFI at Danang Airport, so you can get online to book a ride when you land.
Expect to pay slightly less than a regular taxi for a Grab taxi.
