On the way from Da Nang and Hoi An, only 9km from the city center, you will see a cluster of five limestone hills which are named after the five universal elements – Metal (Kim), Wood (Moc), Water (Thuy), Fire (Hoa) and Earth (Tho). The cluster - The Marble Mountains has been recognised as a special national-level relic site by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism. Apart from its scenic charm, the site shows off its special, profound historical and cultural values.
People say that for a long time ago, there was an old man living in a large sand area. One day, there was a dragon goes there to bear its egg and a golden turtle says the man how to protect that egg by his claw. Thank the magic claw, the old man kept the egg until it opened out and became a beautiful girl. After that, the King got married to this girl. And, the shell of an egg was broken into 5 pieces and created the marble mountain.
The main visitor attraction is the “Water Mount” (Hon Thuy), home to plenty of mysterious caves, grottoes, and pagodas. The summit isn’t very high so it’s great for an easy relaxing hike while discovering some of the oldest pagodas in Da Nang (date back hundreds of years ago) and admiring stone caves which were used to be a shelter for Vietnamese soldiers during American War.

4. The Golden Bridge - Ba Na Hills
A very common misconception is that the Golden Bridge is a bridge project done by the Government and is an individual attraction. WRONG! The Golden Bridge is a part of an amusement park – Ba Na Hill (Sun World Amusement Park Group and over 20 km away from Danang downtown). So instead of google “Golden Bridge”, you should rather google “Ba Na Hill” on google map. And to get to the Golden Bridge, the only way is to visit Ba Na Hill.
Sun World Ba Na Hills is known for its record-breaking cable car system, and the amusement park adds new features nearly every year to attract new and old visitors. One of the best-loved destinations in Ba Na Hills is the French Village, which reenacts an old fashioned and tranquil France lined with recognizable classical landmarks such as the square, church, town, old village, and inns. The cool air in Bana Hill is also one of the added features of the park.
For ones that have little interest in amusement parks, consider the entrance fee, and also consider visiting early enough if you don’t want many people in your photo backgrounds.
